  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The first five Northern State University Honors Program students have been accepted to law school through the new Honors Law Opportunity Program.

    The program, a collaboration between Northern and the University of South Dakota, guarantees admission for five NSU Honors Program students into the USD Knudson School of Law. Those five students are:

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – U.S. Sen. Mike Rounds will deliver the spring commencement address on Saturday, May 7, at Northern State University.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Dr. Benjamin Harley, director of Northern State University’s Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, was part of a panel discussion with the national publication The Chronicle of Higher Education on Thursday April 21, 2022.

    The panel, which focused on reconnecting students to learning, included discussion of Harley’s recent scholarship on critical thinking as well as Northern’s upcoming HyFlex Pedagogy Graduate Certificate.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University student Stephanie Vanden Hoek is having an art exhibition reception on April 24, 2022, at 3 p.m. in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Gallery.

    Vanden Hoek will display digital illustrations and graphic design work, along with some photography work. The exhibition will be on display from April 17-30.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – When it comes to campus improvement projects, Northern State University has taken numerous steps toward sustainability.

    All campus buildings have the latest in LED lighting, with the exception of Steele Hall, Kramer Hall, McArthur-Welsh and a portion in Williams Library that will be done soon, said NSU Facilities Manager Monte Mehlhoff.

    Northern also has six new solar-powered exterior fixtures—two in the Newman Center parking lot, two in the McArthur-Welsh lot and two on the south side of the Mewaldt-Jensen Building, Mehlhoff said.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University Annual Spring Choral Concert will take place at 3 p.m. May 1 in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Harvey and Cynthia Jewett Theater.

    The concert will feature the NSU Concert Choir, Early Musick Ensemble and Chamber Singers.

    The Concert Choir will open with three 20th century American classics—Robert Page’s arrangement of Leonard Bernstein’s “The Best of All Possible Worlds,” James Erb’s arrangement of “Shenandoah,” and Randall Thompson’s “Alleluia.”
