ABERDEEN, S.D. ¨C The Northern State University Art Department presents the 2017 Juried Student Exhibition from March 1-March 31 in the NSU Student Center gallery.

ABERDEEN, S.D. ¨C In honor of Black History Month, a screening and discussion of Ava DuVernay¡¯s documentary ¡°13^th¡± will be held on the Northern State University campus.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Red Room (JC117).

DuVernay¡¯s film explores the history of racial inequality in the United States. The event, which is co-sponsored by NSU Jump Start and the NSU Honors Program, is free and open to the public.

 ABERDEEN, S.D. ¨C The Northern State University music department will present their annual Jazz Spectacular at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 2, in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Main Theater, featuring NSU students and faculty.

The student-led jazz-fusion band, ¡°Jet Lagged,¡± will kick off the evening¡¯s festivities. ¡°Jet Lagged¡± is led by NSU student percussionist, Paulo Jimenez. The group will showcase their music with guest performer and NSU music faculty member, Dr. Fred Hemke.

ABERDEEN, S.D. ¨C Dr. Peter Ramey, assistant professor of English at Northern State University, has recently published an article in the journal, Modern Philology, examining early English vocabulary.

The article, titled ¡°The Riddle of Beauty: The Aesthetics of Wr?tlic in Old English Verse,¡± was published on Feb. 1.
